INAER (Alicante Elche Miguel Hernández) has cut its scheduled helicopter services from Algeciras and Málaga to Ceuta by March 25, 2012 already. It has cited the economic conditions in Spain, rising fuel prices, restricted operating times of the heliports and frequent air traffic control strikes as reasons for its suspension of all scheduled services as these were the only routes Inaer had offered on a scheduled basis. This has left the Spanish exclave of Ceuta without scheduled air services otherwise only linked to the Spanish mainland by ferries operating from Algeciras.
