Larsen & Toubro (Mumbai International) has taken delivery of a factory-new GVII-G500, the first unit of the type to be registered in India.
The ultra-long-range jet, still operating under Gulfstream Aerospace's test registration N767GD (msn 72167), was ferried from the manufacturer's production facilities at Savannah International to Delhi International between September 17 and 19, with stops at Springfield Westfield Barnes Regional, Farnborough, Basel/Mulhouse/Freiburg, CH, and Dubai World Central. The aircraft's future Indian registration has not yet been disclosed.
Larsen & Toubro is an Indian multinational conglomerate with interests in engineering, construction, and technology. The firm's aviation arm, L&T Aviation, has held a non-scheduled operator's permit (NSOP) since 2010, currently comprising a nine-seat, 14.5-year-old Hawker 900XP based at Mumbai International. Lauren & Toubro's corporate fleet also includes a 12-seat, 8.1-year-old Legacy 650, which is not under L&T Aviation's NSOP.
It remains unclear whether this new GVII-G500 will be placed on L&T Aviation's permit or serve as a replacement for any existing aircraft. At present, only two large-cabin Gulfstream jets are registered in India, both G550s, with one under the NSOP of IRM (India) and the other privately operated.
