LAN Airlines (Santiago de Chile) CEO Ignacio Cueto has announced that his airline has successfully completed a test flight of one of its three B787-8s, having installed the necessary battery modifications. Scheduled Dreamliner flights are expected to therefore resume "in the coming days" Mr Cueto said. Fixed costs relating to the 787's four-month long grounding have hit the Chilean carrier's bottom-line hard. The airline's parent, LATAM Airlines Group, recently announcing a first-quarter net profit of USD42.7million, down 50% on the same period last year, blaming not only on the 787's woes, but also foreign exchange fluctuations and a drop in cargo revenue.
