Aeroflot (SU, Moscow Sheremetyevo) will launch a new regional subsidiary in the Russian Far East in the third quarter of this year. However some concern is afoot regarding the planned regional carrier's network, which will draw on the international rights of Aeroflot's subsidiaries SAT Airlines (Russian Federation) (Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk) and Vladivostok Air (Vladivostok). Analysts believe that the regional carrier's entry into the international scene could spell disaster for SAT and Vladivostok Air, both of whom depend on international operations to stay afloat as most regional flights operate at a loss. The Russian national carrier had stated that any new regional carrier would have to necessarily be subsidized by the state, "at least through 2016."
