Garuda Indonesia (GA, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta) will have tentatively finalized its switch from Medan Soewondo to the newly constructed Medan Kuala Namu Airport, with effect from September 2. The development arose after analysts noted that Garuda's CRJ1000ER operations out of Medan reflect Kuala Namu's IATA code, KNO, instead of the regular MES code, effective September 2. Kuala Namu is slated to fully commence operations on July 25, 2013 replacing the 85-year-old Polonia airport.
