Oman Air (WY, Muscat) is considering converting the last "two or three" of its ten B787-8s on order, to B787-9s or even 787-10s, CEO Wayne Pearce has disclosed. According to ATW, upgrading to the largest -10 model would give seat economics similar to those of the B747-8 or A380-800. The Omani carrier is due to get six 787-8s between 2015 and 2018. He further added that his carrier would aim to grow its fleet-size to 50+ come 2017 with plans to boost its Muscat to London Heathrow to double-daily as a result of strong demand. In terms of the airline's cargo operations, Mr Pearce said Oman Air had recently set up a wet-lease arrangement with DHL for a weekly flight to Dubai International though a second wet lease contractor would be brought on board by the end of the year. Oman Air is also looking at “a couple of aircraft”, possibly in the Boeing 757 or Airbus A300 categories, that could operate to Asia, Africa or the southern part of Italy.
