Germania (Berlin Schönefeld) will switch its scheduled and charter operations from Berlin Tegel to Berlin Schönefeld with effect from November 1. According to the airline, as its MRO subsidiary, Germania Technik Brandenburg, already operates an MRO hangar at Berlin Schönefeld in conjunction with Air Berlin (1991) (Berlin Tegel), the move will allow the Germania group to eliminate cost-intensive duplicate infrastructure while simultaneously removing the need to operate positioning flights between the two airports. Germania operates flights on behalf of tour operators from Berlin Schönefeld to the Canary Islands, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates and, this winter, intends to launch twice weekly Skopje flights while maintaining a current twice weekly Beirut service.
