Adria Airways (Ljubljana) has begun to liquidate some of its “unnecessary business assets” in an effort to stem recurrent losses and boost its coffers. In a tender issued recently, the Slovenian state carrier put its MRO hangar, workshops and offices at Ljubljana airport along with its Ljubljana-based flying school inclusive of a navigation and procedures trainer, up for sale. The tender closes on Friday, July 19. In May, the carrier announced plans to lease out aircraft to reduce mounting costs. Adria is the latest national carrier from the former-Yugoslavia to feel the pinch with neighbours Croatia Airlines (OU, Zagreb Franjo Tuđman) and B&H Airlines (Sarajevo) also struggling to remain solvent.
