VivaAerobus (Monterrey Mariano Escobedo) will reportedly confirm an order with Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) for forty A320s next week signifying a major switch for the airline which until now, has been an exclusive Boeing (BOE, Washington National) operator. According to Reuters, the deal is valued at USD4billion and comes on the back of a bitterly fought war between the US and European aircraft manufacturers for the contract. The deal is also expected to mark a breakthrough for Pratt & Whitney, whose powerplants have been chosen for the new fleet. Currently, the Mexican LCC operates nineteen CFM-engined B737-300s on an extensive domestic Mexican network.
