VivaAerobus (Monterrey Mariano Escobedo) has signed a purchase agreement with Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) for fifty-two Airbus A320 Family aircraft (40 A320neo and 12 A320ceo), representing the biggest Airbus aircraft order by a single airline in Latin American history. Part-owned by IAMSA, one of Mexico’s largest transportation companies, and Irelandia Aviation, a global low-cost-carrier airline developer, VivaAerobus will replace its entire fleet of B737-300s to become an all-Airbus operator by 2016. Although no announcement regarding engine selection has yet been made, another volt-face is expected with a move from CFM to Pratt & Whitney.
