Air Berlin (1991) (Berlin Tegel) has strongly rejected a report carried by German industry publication, aero.de, that claims the airline is considering selling its MRO subsidiary, Air Berlin Technik, to Etihad Airways (EY, Abu Dhabi International) to help raise urgently needed funds. The report says airline CFO Ulf Hüttmeyer alluded to a "particular transaction" due in the fourth quarter of this year which will be used to raise finance needed to service the airline's debts following weaker-than-expected revenue projections for 4Q of this year. Etihad injected EUR184.4million into Germany's second largest carrier in December 2012 when it acquired a 70% stake in the airline's frequent flyer program, topbonus.
