VivaAerobus (Monterrey Mariano Escobedo) will launch five new twice-weekly routes out of Ciudad Juárez and Tampico during the second quarter of 2014. Announcing the development, the Mexican LCC told Routes News that the flights would supplement the two airports' existing services to Guadalajara, Monterrey Mariano Escobedo, Cancún, and Toluca.

The arrangement, which was made possible via a deal with local airport operator OMA, is still in its early stages.

In anticipation of projected growth in the local market, VivaAerobus took delivery of its first of two A320-200s, cn 2157 & cn 2443, on lease from Ansett Worldwide Aviation Services (AWAS) on February 26. The second twinjet is expected later during the year.
