Air Serbia (JU, Belgrade Nikola Tesla) has postponed plans to launch a three times weekly service to Beirut citing the ongoing instability in the region. EX-YU Aviation News says the Serbian carrier suspended the route's ticket sales on Sunday March 2 and is due to give an official statement next week.

The route was to launch on March 30 and had proven to be popular with transit passengers from France and Germany.

In addition to the ongoing fighting in neighbouring Syria, Lebanon has been rocked by a series of suicide bombings in the past few weeks, the latest of which occurred last Saturday when three people were killed and fifteen others wounded.

Air Serbia also postponed its Cairo International route in January this year following civil unrest and a spate of bombings.
