Belavia (B2, Minsk National) has signed an agreement with Boeing (BOE, Washington National) for three B737-800s valued at USD272million at current list prices. As reported in April, the aircraft will replace the Belarus national carrier's fleet of Tu-154Ms once they begin arriving in 2017.

"The purchase of three Next-Generation 737-800s will make it possible to open new scheduled flights to destinations which currently are unavailable due to the remoteness of the base airport," said Anatoly Gusarov, Belavia's director general.

Belavia intends to use the aircraft on existing charter routes and on proposed non-stop flights to farther destinations, including Tenerife Norte in the Canary Islands and Dubai International.

Belavia also operates nine B737-300s, six B737-500s, one B767-300(ER), five CRJ200s, two E175s, two E195s, and four Tu-154Ms. An existing B737-800 is used for VIP flights on behalf of the Belarussian government.
