AlMasria Universal Airlines (UJ, Cairo International) is looking to venture into the Egyptian domestic market with plans to offer low-cost flights to the country's Red Sea and Sinai resorts later this summer.
In an interview with Egypt's Daily News, airline chairman Hassan Aziz said the carrier was considering flights between Alexandria El Nohza and the resort towns of Luxor and Sharm el Sheikh in a bid to encourage local tourism. The airline is aiming to almost double its passenger throughput rate from 400'000 pax/annum last year, to 700'000 pax/annum this year.
At present, the carrier operates regional flights between Cairo International and the Saudi Arabian cities of Gassim, Jeddah International, Tabuk, Taif, and Yanbu.
