9 Air (AQ, Guangzhou) commenced operations on Tuesday, December 2 with charter flights from Guangzhou to Zhanjiang Wuchuan. A pair of B737-800s currently provide capacity on the route though it is to be recalled that the LCC has committed to Boeing (BOE, Washington National) for fifty Boeing 737s, including Next-Generation 737s and 737 MAXs.
With its focus on central south China and southwest China, the carrier plans to develop hubs in both Guangzhou and in the southwestern city of Chengdu Shuangliu.
Founded in February this year, the Juneyao Airlines (Shanghai Hongqiao) subsidiary is China's latest LCC behind Spring Airlines (9C, Shanghai Hongqiao) and West Air (China) (PN, Chongqing).
