Qantas (QF, Sydney Kingsford Smith) completed the retirement of its B767-300(ER) fleet from commercial operations on Tuesday, December 27, 2014. The type's last revenue flight - from Melbourne Airport to Sydney Kingsford Smith - was operated by VH-OGL (msn 25363) and marked the end of a 29 year-long relationship with the Australian carrier.

“While it’s sad to say goodbye, it’s definitely time to retire the 767s as we have been bringing in newer aircraft that are more advanced and fuel efficient. It’s also part of reducing complexity in our fleet by reducing the number of different aircraft types we fly from 11 down to seven,” Qantas Head of Flying Operations and Boeing 767 pilot, Captain Mike Galvin, said.

Qantas has operated a total of forty-one B767s since the type's début in 1985.

The carrier's A330-200 and A330-300 fleet will now take over all routes previously operated by the B767.
