Eastern Airways (T3, Humberside) says it would consider starting scheduled services from Aberdeen Dyce to either Edinburgh or Glasgow International if government offered to subsidize the routes.

“We are always interested in developing intra-Scottish routes with any airport in Scotland. However, there needs to be further talks for route development support from the Scottish Government,” Kay Ryan, commercial director at Eastern Airways, told the Evening Express.

Aberdeen is the centre of the United Kingdom's petroleum industry and its economy, 70% based on oil, has taken a particularly hard bruising in the wake of a recent decline in global oil prices. The city's airport, which also houses the main heliport for the Scottish offshore oil industry, has seen a dramatic fall in passenger throughput over the past six months as oil firms move to mothball unprofitable oil rigs in the North Sea.
