Air Seychelles (HM, Mahé) will resume direct flights to Europe in July of this year, the country's Minister for Foreign Affairs and Transport, Joel Morgan, has announced.
The Seychellois national carrier will offer a direct 3x weekly Mahé to Paris CDG service on-board an A330-200, supplanting its current routing via Abu Dhabi International.
“Making the opportunity to have sustainable non-stop flights to Paris CDG even greater is the fact Seychelles is registering double-digit growth in tourism arrivals from France, our number one market, since the beginning of this year,” he told the Seychelles News Agency.
Air Seychelles last offered direct flights to the French capital back in early 2012, just prior to Etihad Airways (EY, Abu Dhabi International) acquiring a 49% stake in the airline.
The issue of direct links to Europe has been a serious cause for concern for tour operators given that Europeans make up the majority of tourist arrivals to the Indian Ocean archipelago.
