Swiss (LX, Zurich) has taken delivery of its first A220-100 ahead of the type's global market debut next month.
As the C-Series launch operator, Swiss is using the type to gradually replace its fleet of sixteen ARJ100s all of which are wet-leased from its Swiss Global Air Lines (Zurich) unit.
The first CS100, HB-JBA (cn 50010), aircraft is scheduled to enter service with Swiss on July 15, 2016 with its maiden commercial flight slated to be Zurich-Paris CDG. Thereafter, the twinjet will then be deployed on other regional European services including: Warsaw Chopin, Brussels National, Nice, Stuttgart, Hannover, Milan Malpensa, Florence Peretola, and Bucharest Henri Coanda in due course.
The Lufthansa (LH, Frankfurt International) subsidiary has fifteen CS100s and fifteen A220-300s on order from Bombardier Aerospace (BBA, Montréal Trudeau).
