Xiamen Airlines (MF, Xiamen) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Boeing (BOE, Washington National) for the purchase of up to thirty B737 MAX 200 aircraft.

Announced during the 2016 Farnborough International Airshow, the order is still subject to finalization and approval by Xiamen Airlines board and the China Southern Airlines Airline Group board, as well as the Chinese Government.

The airline sees the MAX 200 as ideal for its low cost subsidiaries Jiangxi Airlines (RY, Nanchang International) and Hebei Airlines (NS, Shijiazhuang).

Xiamen Airlines operates seventeen B737-700s, 115 B737-800s, four B757-200s, and six B787-8s on scheduled passenger flights throughout China as well as to Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Macau, Singapore, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Indonesia, South Korea, Australia, the United States, Cambodia, Singapore, and Japan. It also has a pending order with the US manufacturer for thirty B737 MAX 8s and four B787-9s.
