Adria Airways (Ljubljana) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Arno Schuster has outlined the carrier's long term growth strategy following a EUR9.2 million (USD10.4 million) net loss for its 2015 financial year.

EX-YU Aviation News reports the plan will focus on three key aspects aimed at turning the Slovenian carrier into one of Europe's main regional operators.

The first aspect will see Adria expand its operational reach by increasing its ACMI and ad-hoc charter business while at the same time increasing its scheduled coverage of underserved secondary markets. While no new routes will be launched this year, Adria does plan to boost frequencies on several existing routes out of Ljubljana this coming winter season, including: Amsterdam Schiphol, Paris CDG, Sarajevo, Warsaw Chopin, and Zurich.

The second aspect follows on the first wherein greater emphasis will be placed on Ljubljana becoming a transfer hub for traffic following between the Balkans/Eastern Europe and Western Europe.

The third aspect focuses on cost control and reduction. Here, unnecessary passenger and aircraft handling services will be discontinued.

Adria currently operates three A319-100s, one CRJ200 (currently undergoing repairs), three CRJ700s, and nine CRJ900s on regular flights to thirty-eight destinations in twenty-four countries around Western Europe, Scandinavia, Eastern and Central Europe, Russia, and Israel.

In July, 4K Invest subsidiary, AA International Aviation Holding, acquired full control of the carrier when it acquired its few outstanding shares.
