PNG Air (CG, Port Moresby) has firmed up options for five additional ATR72-600s with ATR - Avions de Transport Régional (EVX, Toulouse Blagnac). The aircraft are part of an order for up to twenty of the type signed in 2014 which entailed six firm orders with fourteen options.

At present, PNG Air operates four ATR72-600Cs on domestic flights throughout Papua New Guinea with a fifth due before year-end. It is using the type to replace its outgoing fleet of DHC-8-100s which currently number twelve.

As such, the five new ATR72-600s, plus an additional one on lease, will bring the carrier's total ATR fleet to twelve when the last aircraft is delivered in 2022.
