Tigerair Australia (Melbourne Airport) has halted the sale of tickets to Denpasar, Indonesia until March 25, 2017, as it seeks to resolve an impasse with Indonesia's regulatory authority over the nature of its flights.

While scheduled services from Brisbane International, Melbourne Airport, and Sydney Kingsford Smith to the Indonesian resort city ceased on January 10, several repatriation flights have since been organised.

"Tigerair Australia continues to work with the Indonesian Government in order to start flying to Bali again as soon as possible," it said in a statement issued Monday, January 16. "At present we are still progressing options to resume flying."

Indonesia's Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) revoked Tigerair Australia's service rights last week citing its sale of one-way tickets while using B737-800 metal wet-leased from Virgin Australia (VA, Brisbane International) to operate the flights.

For it to resume services to Indonesia, the DGCA said Tigerair will have to reobtain flight clearance consisting of Diplomatic clearance from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Security clearance from the Indonesian National Armed Forces, and Flight Approval from the Ministry of Transportation.
