SpiceJet (SG, Delhi International) has firmed up an order with Bombardier Aerospace (BBA, Montréal Trudeau) for fifty 90-seater DHC-8-400s/Q400s first announced as a Letter of Intent (LOI) during the 2017 Paris Airshow at Paris Le Bourget.
The agreement has provision for twenty-five firm Q400 turboprops and purchase rights for an additional twenty-five aircraft. Upon delivery, the Indian LCC will become the first operator in the world to employ 90-seat turboprops, pending certification by regulatory authorities.
SpiceJet currently operates twenty 78-seater Q400s on scheduled passenger services to domestic and international destinations.
