Ethiopian Airlines (ET, Addis Ababa International) has taken over its first of thirty B737-8s on order from Boeing (BOE, Washington National). Flightradar24 ADS-B data shows ET-AVM (msn 62446) was positioned from Seattle Boeing Field to Addis Ababa International via Dublin International over the course of July 1/2.
Ethiopian currently operates four B737-700s and fifteen B737-800s on domestic as well as short- and medium-haul flights throughout Africa, the Middle East, and India.
As previously noted, the carrier has also been contemplating an order for smaller regional jets with both the C-Series and the E195-E2 in competition. Airline CEO Tewolde Gebremariam has hinted in several recent reports that an order could be announced during this month's Farnborough Airshow.
