IndiGo Airlines (6E, Delhi International) has asked ATR - Avions de Transport Régional to defer deliveries of its incoming ATR72-600s given a dearth of flight crews.
According to India's Economic Times, sources said the carrier had intended to alternate deliveries between one and two per month but had had to mitigate that rate given the personnel shortage.
A senior IndiGo executive confirmed the airline was indeed facing a shortage of ATR pilots but didn’t comment on the delivery deferrals.
The ch-aviation fleets module shows IndiGo operates twelve ATR72-600s on domestic Indian routes. It has orders for a further 38 of which eight were to have been delivered by January 2019.
