Cargojet Airways (W8, Hamilton, ON) has announced the acquisition of an undisclosed groundhandling and Ground Support Equipment firm at Montréal Mirabel for approximately CAD3.0 million Canadian dollars (USD2.29 million). The agreement includes all company assets and assumes all current lease arrangements.
"The acquisition of this ground handling and GSE company is the continuation of our strategic initiative to insource all ground handling operations at airports across our Canadian network," Ajay Virmani, Chief Executive Officer, said in a statement. "We are pleased to welcome our new team members to the Cargojet family and look forward to integrating and growing our business at Mirabel and across the country by providing our customers continued best in class air cargo service and reliability."
According to the ch-aviation capacity module, Cargojet currently operates 15 scheduled flights per week out of Mirabel to each of Moncton (10 flights) and Hamilton, ON (5 flights). It operates its network across North America each business night, utilizing a fleet of all-cargo aircraft.
Overall, Mirabel ranks fourth in terms of the Canadian cargo specialist's currently weekly flight operations with hubs at Hamilton, ON, Winnipeg International, and Moncton in first (39), second (35), and third place (25) respectively.
