airBaltic (BT, Riga) has taken delivery of the remaining five Dash 8-400s in late 2010 but has found itself in the middle of a major argument between its two shareholders, the Latvian government and the airline management, over financial transactions between the airline and companies controlled by senior managers and the general financial situation of the airline. Air Baltic had announced plans to open a new base in Oulu in Northern Finland and Baltijas Aviacijas Sistemas (the holding company owned by Air Baltic senior management) had been considering setting up a separate carrier in Lithuania but it is unclear if these plans will still go ahead given the current status of the carrier. Air Baltic has given up its routes from Oulu to Stockholm Arlanda, from Riga to Arkhangelsk, Geneva, Gothenburg Landvetter, Hanover, Kuusamo and Lulea, from Tallinn to Lappeenranta, Oulu, Stockholm Arlanda, Tampere and Turku as well as from Vilnius to Berlin Tegel, Dublin, London Gatwick, Paris CDG and Rome Fiumicino. It will also terminate its routes from Riga to Tartu on August 1, Dublin on August 30 and to Amman Queen Alia, Baku, Beirut, Dushanbe and Yerevan in mid-September and to Gdansk by the end of October. It has however planning to resume the routes to Amman, Baku, Beirut, Dushanbe and Yerevan again in summer 2012 as seasonal services. All of its Fokker 50s are supposed to be phased out during the upcoming winter timetable period. In better news, Air Baltic has however also launched new services: Riga-Bari: 2x weekly seasonal B737-500 service starting on June 4 Riga-Beirut-Amman Queen Alia-Riga: 2x weekly B757-200 service operating as a triangle service now Riga-Budapest: 4x weekly Dash 8-400 service has started on May 16 Riga-Gdansk: 6x weekly Fokker 50 service has started on April 18 Riga-Milan Linate: daily B737-300/-500 service has started on October 31 (replacing Milan Malpensa service) Riga-Moscow Domodedovo: 2x weekly Dash 8-400 service has started on December 2 Air Baltic and Transaero Airlines (UN/Moscow Domodedovo) have entered into a codeshare agreement for the route linking their two hubs and served by both carriers between Riga and Moscow Domodedovo. It has also entered into a codeshare agreement with Skyways (JZ/Stockholm Arlanda) for the Riga-Gothenburg Landvetter route and services from Vilnius to Berlin Tegel and Stockholm Arlanda operated by the Swedish regional carrier. Skyways in return codeshares on routes from Copenhagen Kastrup and Stockholm Arlanda to Riga.
