Transaero Airlines (Moscow Vnukovo) has signed a letter of intent to place orders for four A380-800s, four B747-8s and four B787-8s as well as a firm order for eight A320-200neo aircraft over the course of the last couple of months. It has added additional ex-Singapore Airlines (SQ/Singapore Changi) B747-400s and has now completely phased out its B747-200 fleet operating a total of 15 B747-400s with five additional aircraft still being delivered. Transaero has also leased two new B737-800s not taken up by Air Berlin (AB/Berlin Tegel) and two ex-Air Berlin and ex-Air Europa (UX/Palma de Mallorca) B737-800s as well as a fourth ex-Air Italy (I9/Milan Malpensa) B737-300 and a 9th ex-Varig B777-200. It now operates one of its ex-Continental Airlines (CO/Houston Intcl) B737-500s for a VIP division called “Imperial”. Transaero has also introduced new services from its Domodedovo hub: Ekaterinburg-Sharm el Sheikh: 3x weekly Tu-214 service has resumed on November 1 Moscow Domodedovo-Abu Dhabi: 2x weekly B737-800 service has started on December 30 Moscow Domodedovo-Kuala Lumpur Intl: weekly B777-200 service has started on December 30 Moscow Domodedovo-Mahé: seasonal B777-200 service operating every 10 days starting on January 2 Moscow Domodedovo-Mineralnye Vody: daily B737-500 service has started on October 19 Moscow Domodedovo-Vilnius: 4x weekly B737-500 service has started on December 1 St. Petersburg-Tokyo Narita: weekly seasonal B767-300ER service resuming on June 21 and operating until September 28
