Arkia Israeli Airlines (IZ, Tel Aviv Ben Gurion) and Israir (6H, Tel Aviv Ben Gurion) have been advised by the Israeli government that they would have to replace their ATR aircraft by 2014 as the aircraft cannot be equipped by anti-missile systems. Arkia currently operates five ATR 72-500s while Israir operates two ATR 42-300s and two ATR 72-500s, mainly on domestic flights from Tel Aviv Ben Gurion and Tel Aviv Sde Dov to Eilat J. Hozman. Arkia also serves Amman Queen Alia and Larnaca from Ben Gurion with its ATR 72-500s.
