Loong Air (GJ, Hangzhou) has secured a charter contract with ENT!JDCO wherein the airline will operate one of its three B737-300(F)s on behalf of the Chinese e-commerce giant.
The business-to-consumer e-commerce platform said the partnership will cover 6x weekly return flights used both on behalf of its B2C operations and for individual parcel deliveries. JD.com also wants to sell cargo capacity to third-party retailers.
"The initiative will enable JD to provide faster and more reliable delivery service to customers in Yangtze River Delta and Great Bay Area. Customers who place orders in the afternoon can receive them the next morning, expanding coverage at this speed by 300% to 24 cities," JD.com said.
B-2954 (msn 27518), which now features the JD.com logo, started operating under the partnership on May 7 with the first flight from Shenzhen to Wuxi.
JD.com also has cargo contracts with China's largest airlines namely Air China, China Eastern Airlines, and China Southern Airlines.
"Going forward, JD plans to open more all-cargo flights from Wuxi to Tianjin, stretching the service to Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei area," the firm said.
Besides the three B737-300(F)s, Loong Air also operates twenty-eight A320-200s and sixteen A320-200N.
