Cape Air (9K, Hyannis) has ordered ten incremental Tecnam P2012s and secured a further 20 options for the Italian twin-piston aircraft.

The firm-ordered aircraft will deliver in 2021, while the options are evenly split between deliveries in 2022 and 2023.

Cape Air currently operates twenty P2012s. As the type's global launch operator, it began P2012 commercial service in December 2019. To date, the only other airline using P2012s for commercial operations is ZilAir (SYZ, Mahé). Tamifield (Johannesburg O.R. Tambo) and Charter Express (Guamal) also have orders for the aircraft.

The Massachusetts-based regional carrier plans to eventually operate 100 P2012s as a replacement for its Cessna (twin piston) C402s. Besides its scheduled operations in New England, Cape Air also operates own-risk scheduled services in the Caribbean out of San Juan Luis Muñoz Marin, as well as a host of Essential Air Service (EAS) contracts across the United States with bases at Billings, MT, and St. Louis Lambert International airports (as well as a single EAS route out of San Juan).
