Volaris El Salvador (N3, San Salvador International) launched commercial flight operations on September 15, 2021, using its first A320-200N transferred from parent company Volaris (Y4, México City International).
N544VL (msn 9343) operated the last revenue flight for Volaris in Mexico on August 20, 2021, and was subsequently ferried to San Salvador International. On September 14, it was repositioned to México City International under Volaris El Salvador's flight code and began revenue operations the next day. The aircraft, which is owned by AerCap, currently operates exclusively between Mexico City and San Salvador Int'l, Flightradar24 ADS-B data shows.
The Salvadoran subsidiary of Volaris has been in the works since 2019 when it initially secured its Air Operator's Certificate (AOC). The Mexican carrier did not outline specific plans regarding the number of aircraft it planned to transfer to El Salvador.
Volaris also owns Volaris Costa Rica (Q6, San José Juan Santamaría) with four A319-100s in its fleet. The Mexican parent operates an in-house fleet of ninety A320 Family aircraft, comprising three A319s, forty A320-200s, thirty-one A320-200Ns, ten A321-200s, and six A321-200N. It has a further fifty-six A320-200Ns and forty A321-200Ns on firm order from Airbus, the ch-aviation fleets module shows.
