JetSMART Perú (JZ, Lima International) is planning to begin scheduled operations on June 14, 2022, with the initial fleet of two A320-200Ns.
The Peruvian subsidiary of Chilean low-cost carrier JetSMART (JA, Santiago de Chile) will operate the following routes:
- from Lima International to Arequipa, Cusco, Trujillo Carlos Martinez de Pinillos (all starting on June 14), Piura (June 21), Tarapoto (July 5), Talara (August 9), Juliaca (August 17), Iquitos (August 24), and Cajamarca (August 31), and
- from Arequipa to Cuzco (June 15), Trujillo (June 16), Piura (June 24), and Tarapoto (August 8).
Recently certified JetSMART Peru initially targeted a July 2022 launch with a fleet of three A320-200Ns. The LCC said that in line with its Chilean strategy, it would combine services to/from Lima and direct regional routes bypassing the capital to improve Peru's overall connectivity.
JetSMART Peru will become the third international LCC in the country, after SKY Airline Perú (H8, Lima International) (which currently holds an 18% market share in the domestic market by scheduled capacity) and Viva Air Perú (Lima International) (2.5%).
