GetJet Airlines (GW, Vilnius) took delivery of its first B737-800 in the form of LY-UNO (msn 33801) marking its resumption of B737 operations after more than two years.

The 18.2-year-old jet, formerly operated by Virgin Australia (VA, Brisbane International), flew for the first time for GetJet Airlines on June 25, operating a charter flight from Vilnius to Irakleion. It is the first of five B737-800s the airline is planning to add. Two more aircraft are scheduled for delivery during the summer season, while the other two will deliver in the fourth quarter of 2022.

GetJet Airlines' current fleet comprises exclusively Airbus aircraft: currently four A320-200s. However, the Lithuanian ACMI/charter specialist began operations with B737 Classic aircraft, operating four B737-300s and four B737-400s between 2016 and 2020, the ch-aviation fleets history module shows. The last B737 revenue flight before the induction of the -800 was on March 14, 2020, on a charter flight from Tashkent International to Kaunas International, Flightradar24 ADS-B data shows.

"After taking delivery of our first of five B737-800 units, GetJet Airlines is poised to deliver the capabilities our clients need to capitalise on this surge in summer demand and beyond," Chief Executive Rūta Kulvinskaitė said.
