Geo-Sky (D4, Tbilisi) is no longer purely a Boeing 747 operator after acquiring its first B757-200(PCF). AFG Aviation Ireland has confirmed it had purchased the freighter registered as 4L-GEG (msn 25622) on behalf of the Georgian cargo specialist. The jet is 29.63 years old and, according to the ch-aviation fleets history module, most recently flew for ASL Airlines Belgium (3V, Liège) where it was registered as OE-LFE.

The cargo carrier noted that the aircraft was already in Tbilisi after ferrying in from Budapest on September 30, saying: "It has already been registered in the civil aircraft registry of Georgia, and the process of adding the aircraft to the operator's certificate of Geo-Sky has started."

Launched in 2017, Geo-Sky has stuck with B747-200B(SF)s to date, currently operating two of the type and having previously operated another two.

The airline retains a European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) unified air safety permit that allows it to operate to 28 countries in the European Union using the one centralised permit, while China has issued Geo-Sky with a CCAR-129 certificate that grants it unlimited rights to fly to China.
