Air Cairo (SM, Cairo International) is planning to induct an unspecified number of E190s after it opened recruitment for pilots for the type.

The airline did not disclose its plans for the Embraer regional jets as the job advertisements did not specify either an induction date or base for the aircraft.

The LCC carrier, which is partly owned by EgyptAir (MS, Cairo International), is currently in the process of fleet renewal and growth. While it historically focused on narrowbody jets, it added its first turboprop in July 2022 and currently operates three ATR72-600s. The ch-aviation fleets module shows it also operates eight A320-200s and six A320-200Ns (with two more due for delivery shortly).

Air Cairo did not respond to ch-aviation's request for comment.

Parent EgyptAir used to operate up to twelve E170s between 2007 and 2020 (for most of the time through no longer existing EgyptAir Express unit) but has since pivoted to A220-300s as its smallest aircraft type.
