OFAC warns European firms on Iranian airline dealings
24.07.2019 - 11:51 UTCThe US Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has warned European parts suppliers that they risk being sanctioned given their continued surreptitious dealings with embargoed Iranian airlines.
In an advisory issued on Tuesday, July 23, warning all foreign entities of the potential consequences of doing business with Iran, OFAC said it had tracked cases wherein "European suppliers" with offices in Tehran, had instructed "Iranian airlines to remit payments to accounts in third countries" in order to by-pass US sanctions.
It did not name the firms involved.
Non-US individuals are banned from exporting goods, services, and technology to Iran or its government. No aircraft that contains more than 10% US-controlled content may be exported to the country while leases of aircraft are also banned.

Ukraine set for two more start-up carriers - Minister
22.06.2018 - 20:40 UTCUkraine's Minister of Infrastructure, Volodymyr Omelyan, has confirmed that there are two more prospective carriers undergoing certification ahead of a possible launch later this year.
"We are close to completing the creation of two new airlines that will fly in Ukraine," he was quoted by Interfax during a meeting of the European Business Association. "One is foreign, and the second is backed by Ukrainian capital."
He declined to provide additional details.
According to the ch-aviation airlines module, Ukraine is currently home to eight scheduled passenger carriers at present namely AtlasGlobal UA, Bravo Airways (Ukraine), Motor Sich Airlines, SkyUp Airlines, Ukraine International Airlines, UM Air, Windrose Airlines, and YanAir.
