Hawaiian Airlines (HA, Honolulu) will introduce its latest B787-9s on services to the US West Coast from March 2024. The airline unveiled the cabin fitouts last week ahead of the first of its 12 Dreamliners arriving in November, with the second due to arrive before revenue operations commence in March.

By the end of 2024, Hawaiian Airlines intends to have four B787-9s in service and will introduce the remainder through 2027. The aircraft will seat 300 passengers in a two cabin configuration, including 34 business class seats and 266 economy class seats (featuring 79 "extra-comfort" seats with additional legroom and access to AC outlets).

Deliveries of the Hawaiian Airlines B787-9s were scheduled to begin in 2021 but delayed due to Covid-19 and B787 assembly line issues. While not specifying what West Coast routes the type would debut on in March, Hawaiian Airlines flies to ten West Coast airports, including Seattle Tacoma International, Portland International, San José, US, Oakland International, Sacramento International, San Francisco, Ontario International, Long Beach, Los Angeles International, and San Diego International. According to ch-aviation capacities weekly seat availability data, its busiest West Coast routes are to Los Angeles, Sacramento, Seattle, Portland, and Oakland, respectively. An Hawaiian Airlines spokesman also told outlets that the B787-9s would deploy onto other long-haul routes once the West Coast services had bedded down.
