Turkish Airlines (TK, Istanbul Airport) is considering launching additional flights from Bishkek to Asia according to several press reports from Kyrgyzstan. THY currently already has full traffic rights for its three times weekly B737-800 service operating from Istanbul via Bishkek to Ulaanbaatar and offering a total of 11 weekly frequencies between Istanbul and Bishkek. It has now applied for traffic rights to launch flights from Bishkek to Shanghai Pudong and Tokyo Narita according to Kyrgyz president Almazbek Sharshenovich Atambayev. According to a news report by German news magazine Focus, THY has postponed an agreement with Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) for a major order for up to 120 additional A320 family aircraft as it would want more Turkish suppliers to be involved in the transaction.
