Loganair (LM, Glasgow International) will add three Saab 2000s to its fleet of fourteen Saab 340Bs, two Saab 340(F)s and six Do328-100s during spring and summer 2014 to help meet rising capacity demand. ShetNews reports that Chief Operating Officer, Phil Preston, told Shetland’s external transport forum the Saab 2000 was chosen because of its "impressive crosswind capability and its excellent performance from shorter airfields" in areas such as Shetland. The aircraft will be based at Aberdeen Dyce and operated by two flight and one cabin crew. Loganair operates scheduled services under a flybe. (2002) (Exeter) franchise throughout mainland Scotland as well as the Orkney, Shetland and Western Isles. It also provides services for the Scottish Air Ambulance Service and night mail services on behalf of Royal Mail.
