Frontier Airlines (F9, Denver International) will be sold to Indigo Partners despite no agreement having been reached with Frontier's Association of Flight Attendants (AFA) union. Following Monday's announcement of a 48-hour extension to the deadline for the deal to close by Republic Airlines (Indianapolis International), the private equity firm said that while major conditions, including agreements with FAPAInvest and Barclaycard, had now been satisfied, an agreement with AFA had yet to be reached. However, Indigo has informed Republic that it will waive that condition with the transaction expected to be finalized later this month, subject to receipt of certain regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions. Frontier is destined to be transformed into an Ultra Low Cost Carrier.
