Singapore Airlines (SQ, Singapore Changi) says it will acquire all excess Tigerair (Singapore Changi) rights shares which are not validly subscribed for by other Tiger Airways shareholders in a transaction that could raise an additional SGD229.4million (USD183.47million) for the troubled budget carrier. Should the acquisition go forward, it could take the Singaporean carrier's shareholding in Tigerair to 76.1%.

The move is the latest in a series of stake increases Singapore Airlines has pursued, the last of which came in December when it uped its stake in Tigerair from 40% to 55.8% in a transaction valued at SGD202.65million (USD161.56million).
