Air Berlin (1991) (Berlin Tegel) has ended in-house B737-700 operations with the last airframe of the type - D-ABLD (msn 36117) - having been disposed to Ruili Airlines (DR, Kunming Changshui) where it is now B-6110 on the Chinese registry.

The German carrier continues to operate the -700 albeit with a fleet of six aircraft that are wet-leased from TUI fly (Germany) (X3, Hannover) as part of a ten-year lease agreement signed in 2009. The agreement also covers nine B737-800s.

As part of its restructuring programme, Air Berlin is phasing out its in-house Boeing (BOE, Washington National) fleet in favour of Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac) aircraft. It hopes to complete the transition by the end of next year.
