Air Iceland (Reykjavik Domestic) is to switch several of its seasonal summer flights to Greenland from its Reykjavik Domestic hub, to the international gateway of Reykjavik Keflavik beginning early June of next year. ch-aviation analysis of schedule data shows the routes affected include Kangerlussuaq and Narsarsuaq.

The move to Reykjavik Keflavik will allow Air Iceland to more effectively target international transit passengers arriving on parent Icelandair (FI, Reykjavik Keflavik) flights from Europe and North America.

"Since we bought the first Bombardier Aerospace (BBA, Montréal Trudeau) aircraft in 2006, we have focused on increasing the number of destinations we serve and this includes expanding our coverage of Greenland," airline CEO Arni Gunnarsson told check-in.dk news. "Kangerlussuaq is a growing tourist hub and the route there fits in well with our overall goal of developing tourism in Greenland."

Air Iceland also serves Ilulissat, Kulusuk, and Nuuk in Greenland though these will continue to be served from Rekjavik Domestic for the foreseeable future.
