China Southern Airlines (CZ, Guangzhou) has announced it has finalized an order with Boeing (BOE, Washington National) for twelve B787-9s. The aircraft will be delivered between 2018 and 2020 and will add to the Chinese carrier's existing fleet of ten B787-8s.

"The acquisition will strengthen the construction of Guangzhou hub, thus maximising the operational efficiency and enhancing the competitiveness of the group," the carrier said in a filing to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

China Southern also operates three B737-300s, twenty-nine B737-700s, 136 B737-800s, ten B757-200s, four B777-200s, and ten B777-300ERs.
