Titan Airways (ZT, London Stansted) is planning to retire its only remaining Boeing freighter, a B737-400(SF), in April 2023, replacing it with additional A321-200(P2F)s, Cargo Facts has reported.
At 30.1 years of age, G-POWS (msn 25853) was retired from regular rotation in mid-December 2022, and has been undergoing maintenance at London Stansted since December 21, 2022. The aircraft has been operated by Titan Airways since 2018, initially for one year in passenger configuration. Its only previous operator was British Airways. Titan Airways will return the aircraft to Automatic Leasing post maintenance.
Once gone, Titan Airways' Boeing fleet will be down to just two B757-200s, of which only one remains active on leisure charters. The airline used to operate Boeing and BAe Systems aircraft exclusively through 2013, when it added its first A320-200. Jet2 (United Kingdom) (LS, Leeds/Bradford) disclosed in its annual report for the financial year March 31, 2022, that it has increased its A321-200N order book by three aircraft to 60.
The British leisure-focused low-cost carrier ordered thirty-six A321-200Ns with options for a further 24 in August 2021. It has been gradually increasing the commitment since then, both through new orders and the conversion of options. It currently has 15 options remaining, which would potentially increase the A321neo fleet to 75.
The first A321neo is due to deliver to Jet2 in early 2023 with the remaining 59 due by the end of 2029.
The ch-aviation fleets advanced module shows that the carrier's current-generation fleet comprises three A321-200s, seven B737-300s, seventy-seven B737-800s, and eight B757-200s. Jet2 (United Kingdom) (LS, Leeds/Bradford) has wet-leased a B757-200 from fellow British operator Titan Airways (ZT, London Stansted) to add extra capacity to the Mediterranean, ch-aviation research has revealed.
G-ZAPX (msn 29309) has been based out of London Stansted and operating for Jet2 since May 26, 2022, Flightradar24 ADS-B data shows. The aircraft is deployed on a variety of routes to Mediterranean destinations, ranging from Faro in the west to points in Greece in the east.
Neither of the two airlines responded to ch-aviation's query about the duration of the wet-lease commitment. Jet2 does not file schedules for the aircraft.
