Vueling Airlines (VY, Barcelona El Prat) will most likely be the surviving name for the new carrier that will emerge as a result of the merger with Clickair (XG/Barcelona). The merger is expected to be completed in March 2009 and Iberia (IB/Madrid) will become the largest shareholder holding approximately 45% in the new carrier. The two LCCs have however already started coordinating schedules and Vueling will give up its Granada-Rome Fiumicino route on September 6 and its Valencia-Milan Malpensa route on September 14. Vueling has already given up its Valencia-Paris CDG route.
