Singapore Airlines (SQ, Singapore Changi) and Boeing (BOE, Washington National) have announced they have finalized an order for twenty B777-9s and nineteen B787-10 aircraft. The announcement came during the state visit of Singapore's prime minister Lee Hsien Loong in Washington, D.C.
Given a previous order for thirty B787-10s, the Singaporean national carrier now has 49 of the aircraft on order making it the largest customer for the longest of the B787s. It is also the launch customer with the first B787-10 to be delivered in the first half of 2018.
SIA's current B777 fleet includes twenty B777-200(ER)s, twenty-seven B777-300(ER)s and five B777-300s. Its low-cost carrier Scoot (TR, Singapore Changi) operates nine B787-8s and six B787-9s.
